It started with a question

During a conversation between a member of the PRO leadership team and Rob Richie of FairVote, Rob was asked, “What is the biggest barrier to election reform” he answered without hesitation, “disagreement  between election reforms about ‘the best’ reform”.  That comment lead to discussions among a small group of election reformers about how to unite all of those who are in good faith working for a better election process.  We recognized that dividing the reform movement by sowing doubt and dissension about the “best” reform was a powerful tool that has often been used by those who oppose election reforms.

Proportional Representation Oregon was formed to evaluate the most effective realistic election reform opportunities, unite reformers to rally behind those best opportunities, and work to see those reforms enacted. Through legislation or ballot measure. Our team and support network include pollsters, political scientists, election lawyers and political operatives and election reform experts.

We don’t know where our journey will lead us. But we pledge to work in good faith and as honest advisors and brokers to the cause of election reform.
